To support Bucked Up’s arrival in the Canadian market, we developed a folding carton box for the energy drink sold at Costco. The mandate went well beyond printing: the packaging had to protect the product, support the brand presentation, meet the requirements of a high-volume retailer and run on an automated line at a co-packer.
The can size, which was not common in the local market, made the development phase especially important. Before launching printed production, the team had to validate the structure, rigidity, closure, as well as the space around the cans and the compatibility with the packaging equipment. Several prototypes were produced to adjust the box to the real constraints of the product, the machine and the go-to-market context.
Blank samples were then produced to test the packaging on the co-packer’s line. This approach helped reduce risk and better prepare the transition to production.
For Bucked Up, the box became a strategic link in its entry into Canada: a tool for protection, brand presentation and performance in an automated packaging environment.
